 Question

Hey

today I bought two couples of geckos

1 is the lygodactylus picturatus and the other is lygodactylus luteopicturatus

now is my question.... can i keep them in the same vivarium

it is 40*40*60 it is well planted ... they have got a lot of hiding space .... the temperature is around 28° Celsius

i only bought them today ... the guy in the store gave me a lot of info ... but i can’t find anything on the Internet ... just the temperature and the moisture (40-80% .. so that’s very wide also)

the guy in the store said that it is possible .....

my white heads are adjusting real fine to their new home but the yellow heads are still hiding and they are brownish ... so is this just because of the stress of moving or does it will give problems when i keep them together/ in that habitat

 Question

i putted the two yellow herads separatly now in a curver 32*18*19 (lenght * wideness*hight)

with some white sand (for cement) and some rocks and on a heatlamp (cant put one in the curver because its plastic and it would melt)

now my question .... what is the minimum vivarium size in centimeters or meters for 1 couple of yellowheads (lygodactylus luteopicturatus).... i always find 10 gallons but i don’t know how big this is.

how can i best decorate this vivarium.... in the shop it was just sand with some rocks and a cactus.
is this a good environment for them? and what sand can i best use for it than. i can’t find anything about this on the internet

i know it wasn’t smart to purchase the animals so quickly .... but the information that the shopowner gave me was quite the same than the information on internet ... so i trusted the owner also on the other information he gave me

i will do anything to see these animals in a good environment as fast as possible..... so if someone can give me some good information about the size of the vivarium and the decoration i will have this all ready for tomorrow 8 o clock ... that’s a promise ...

i want to give these animals a good life ... and i hope that they wouldn’t suffer for my mistake

 Question

it isn’t white sand for cement but it is spoecial birdsand ..... even when they eat of it it isn’t harmfull for the animals.

to repeat my question in a shorter version.

minimum vivarium size? 30*40*60 (lenght*wideness*hight) is big enough for a couple?
decoration = sand + some fake cactusses + stones ... of course food drink light/warmth and uv

is this good?

 Question

Firstly, they both need height, not length. They are both tropical, and require humidity. Use peat or coir for bedding instead of sand. Keep the humidity closer to 80%, if not a little higher. Try to get something oriented vertically, or if not, turn the vivarium you have to be taller than it is long. Put in many plants and branches. Try to convert the tank into liters, each gecko should have 38 liters of space to itself. So if you’re housing two, then double or triple that number.

It is also always better to keep different species to themselves.

 Question

i called the store where i boughtet them and i could return the 2 yellowheads.

i only had them 1 day so i hope they didn’t suffer to much for my mistakes.

the whiteheads are doing great in their terra.

this is well decorated with a lot of plants ... humidity is 70% i will try getting this up to 80-85% by spraying regularly.

 Answer

The temp needs to be a little warmer. Yes the encloser is plenty big and that all seems fine.
