 Please help!!!!!!!! Bibron Gecko

i have a bibron gecko i’ve had her about a month now and things started good but are steadily going bad. first thing about a week ago i was cleaning her cage and about half her tail fell off in my hand, i didn’t have her by the tail but she let it go anyway, second i’ve noticed that her toes are bending upwards and she hasn’t been able to climb the sides of her tank she just falls off when she tries. and now the 3rd problem ever since i’ve bought her i’ve bought a dozen crickets at a time and they would be gone in a few days. now i can understand maybe it’s because of her tail falling off but the same crickets have been in there for about 5 days now and maybe 3 left alive and another 5 or 6 dead that i’ve pulled out of her tank so her desire to eat has apparently vanished.

Now as for her tank, i clean it fully 2x a month but spot cleaning about 1-2 times a week. i change her water everyday, i have cypress bed as a substrate, she has a hot end and cool end she’s in a 10gal tank i have a heat lamp as well as a 75watt night glow bulb thats supposed to replace moonlight. i dust her crickets with vit/cal everytime i feed her, she has tree limbs to climb on, she has a hide-out dome that she spend most the day in. i keep the temps around 75-85 day and 65-75 night humidity usually stays between 55-65 day but raises to 60-70 night. i have a heat rock as well,

well thats about it. if anyone can provide me with some answers or suggestions mostly with her toes and how to maybe get her back to climbing the tank. well thanks for reading i hope you can help

To me it sounds like she may have just shed. Do her toes have skin stuck on the pads? Sometimes that happens to geckos with sticky feet. The toes will curl up like they do when they are walking to release them from surfaces. It’s sort of a reflex when something is on them or they are on something and want it off their feet. Keep an eye on her tail. And only leave crickets in the cage for 15-20 mins. If she does not eat them they need to be taken out to avoid filth if they should die, and because they will likely bite her while she sleeps which they love to do. That is a big rule with crickets. What is the humidity of her viv? Also the heat rock needs to go. They are no good because they burn reptiles. And as smart as they are they need warmth and will take it until they are injured. Exactly how long has it been since she has eaten?

as a matter of fact when she walks thats when i see that her toes bend so maybe your right on that. when she’s on the log her toes are normal. so why can’t she climb the side of her tank? well i woke up this morning to change bulbs and she was on the log and i see only one cricket left so maybe she was stressed over the loss of her tail that’s why she stopped eating. i will do what you said about the crickets the 10-20 mins. also with her tail, is there a way to keep it clean with-out always handling her because that will only stress her even more. i was told warm water and and dab of nerosporin works and i did that the day her tail fell off, but should i continue?

try upping the humidity a bit and seeif that helps with her stickyness.. as for her cage id switch to papertowel while her tail is still healing and growing back. you will be able to keep an eye on her, her bowel movements and what she eats alot better that way. if she doesnt eat the crickets withing 20-30 mins after putting them in there you should be taking them out if you can.. if you cant then make sure to put a piece of potatoe or carrot in there so the crickets have something to eat.

as for the toes bending up is that all the time or just when shes walking? because how geckoes toes work the bending backwords is how they get the microscopic cillia hairs to release from whatever surface they are connected to.

also if you are using the heat rock a a heat source i suggest you dont anymore.. heat rocks especially the older versions can get hot spots that can burn the gecko if its on the rock.. that could be another reason that shes having issues climbing if she has burns on the bottom of her feet.
