WebWorms as food? I have alot of webworms in our Mulberry trees. I was wondering if they would be a good food source for my Golden Geckos and Anoles? Any ideas anyone?

WebWorms as food? The rule is ’if you don’t know anything about the nutritional value of the bug, leave it alone’. If you have Mulberry trees, don’t you have silkworms as well, since that’s all they eat? Those are far better trusted, as well as well known.

WebWorms as food? I haven’t seen any silkworms although I’ve been told they do like Mulberry trees. We’ve lived here 12 years and have only seen Webworms. I’m not feeding them to my lizards yet I wanted to research them first. The webworms are also in a neighbors persimmon tree.
Thanks.

WebWorms as food? Well, I read up on them, and it turns out that the species of moth (webworm) can carry a host of parasites and disease, and tends to attract certain types of bacterial problems. They eat turfgrass and destroy yards and golf courses. They’re a prey item to birds, wasps, beetles, and some types of flies. The species of bug tends to be nocturnal, and burrows into the ground during the day.
Infestations are usually controlled through pesticides, as well as people being encouraged to introduce or attract the predators that eat the bug.

WebWorms as food? Looks like I’ll stay away from them as a food source. We have alot of bluebirds and wasps that eat them so I haven’t tried to kill them off. My 4 mulberry trees are huge so they don’t do alot of damage to them. I did alot of searches on webworms and didn’t see any of the things about them being a host to parasites, diease, and bacterium. What search engine do you use I might need to switch to it.
Thanks,
Vickie
