Message To: Brainmelt In reference to Message Id: 1862949 Pegu forest gecko
C. peguensis is a small ground gecko from Malaysia. They grow to about 5-6" and live in deep forests. Their basic color is a medium reddish-brown with a very inticate pattern like mosaic tile breaking up the background color. They are one of the "naked-fingered" geckos so called because they lack the lamellae under the toepads that is so common in many gecko species. They are often found in the same shipments containing another of the "naked-fingered" geckos; The Malayan Bent-Toed Gecko (Cyrtodactylus pulchellus ssp.). Though a very unique and beautiful gecko species, C. peguensis can be very difficult to maintain. Most imports refuse to thrive and captive bred are few and far between. There are a handful of people who have had moderate success with this species but, as a general rule, they are one to stay away from until the keeper is very experienced. Even then they are still tough. Hope this info helps!!! |
