#2275837 War Machine View Profile	Day Gecko Enclosures. Well I’m in the midst of getting a day gecko. Probably around the end of september, and I’ve just started the enclosure today. I’d like some inspiration on how to furnish it :) So if you could post up yours please do! Here is mine today. Its 40"x20"x20", everything will be carved to a rock like texture, then laced with concrete. I’ll keep you posted! Thanks!

The first photo next to the pool makes it look HUGE. The one on the counter make it look smaller. If it’s as huge as I think it is, you’ll really want to deck it out with sticks and vines. The sticks should be hung more or less horizontally (can be diagonal) across the top and middle of the tank, and the vines/pothos/leaves/etc can be everywhere in between. If you leave it open and undecorated in the center, the day gecko may try to jump from one area of leafage to another and miss, then fall and crash hard at the flooring. I’ve known keepers who had arboreal geckos with an overly large tank before that didn’t put ’catch’ points in the middle of the tank in case the gecko fell, and lost them to bad falls. Otherwise, it looks incredible =D I wish I had a tank that awesome-looking for my golden gecko. I really want to make him a bigger tank.

Framed the door, added more to the walls, foamed a bunch lol so far materials have been easy, I think I’m only $25 into it lol had a lot laying around. But here is what i have INTO it - 40 gallon breeder turned sideways, You can build a wooden frame cheaper and easily. - 2 cans of red expandable foam - 1 8x2x2 sheet of styrofoam - Exacto knife and blades - Mushroom ledge - Fake leaves - cabinet hinges for the door and a lot of creativity and ingenuity. From scratch, built of wood, This setup should run no more then $150

The expandable foam will be siliconed, then applied a coat of Eco earth to give it a dirt texture. The foam board, will be laced with a coat of concrete. I’m all done the construction now, and will be applying the eco earth tomorrow.

So yesterday I layed the first coat of "quikrete Quickwall" and wow, already its stronger then grout, I tried to pinch an area to puncture through the styrofoam, and could not. I’ll apply a second coat tonight. I’m thoroughly impressed at the strength compared to grout. And its about 3x cheaper then grout. Though I left mine white to hand paint it after, they have color additives for the mix.

And you’re right, live pothos is the way to go. So easy to keep alive. I have my pothos in an old chili bottle that I washed out. You know, to keep it from rooting all over the tank and for easy removal. If you have only one male and one female, I’d suggest getting a second female. Though territory issues wont be a problem in a tank that big, it can spread out the male’s breeding urges. That and you’d get more eggs to help keep the species going. =D
