Sexing Giant Day Geckos Last month I purchased a 4 month old giant day gecko who I’ve named Taz. Since then I’ve been attempting to determine the sex of it but I’ve had no positive decision. If anyone could describe how to tell the difference then I’d greatly appreciate it.Here are a couple of pictures of Taz (First pic is at 4 months old, second is at 5 months)

Sexing Giant Day Geckos Oh, now you’re talking about something I absolutely love! You’re not going to able to determine the sex until it’s almost an adult but here is what to look out for. First off there are a line of femoral pores underneath both thighs. Both sexes have them but the ones males have are larger and have a waxy yellow substance coming out of them. Females also develop calcium sacks behind their ears on their necks which is where they store calcium for eggs. I wish you luck and don’t be surprised if he’ll take food strait out of your fingers. It’s too bad they aren’t as calm when you go to pick them up.

Sexing Giant Day Geckos For the time being I’ll just call it a "he" until it’s older and I can tell what sex he is. Taz does take food from my fingers. Often he’ll allow me to take him out and hold him while feeding him some baby food with a spoon. He does get skittish quite a bit but that’s just natural. If anyone has some pictures comparing the female and male vent views then it’ll help even more. Thanks for everything so far. Just one more question~How old must Taz be in order to tell the gender?

Sexing Giant Day Geckos I can’t post the pics since I don’t own them. There are several cheap books out there at most pet stores with the pics. I wish I had a male and a good camera otherwise I would post a pic.
