you should get a crested gecko, they are really interesting, can handle being handled, and thye eat baby food right out of the palm of your hand. If u would like more information about these aweosme geckos you should go read the questions on the crested gecko forum.

Flip, do you want something you can handle, terrestrial, arboreal, tropical, arid? AFTs are cool, I’ve got 2 leos. My prize chow hogs are Stripe and "7", a pair of Skunk (White-lined) geckos. I got Stripe for $16. They pop up every now and then in pet stores. Most are WC unfortunately, so if you decide to get one it’d be wise to get in touch w/ a herp vet and get a fecal sample test. If you decide on a Skunk gecko, and have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask me?

Those Skunk Geckos or White-Lined Geckos are fairly common for local pets stores, they are very pretty and pretty cheap usually ranging from $10-$25 from what i have noticed. Most pet stores could probably order it in. They also can usually get there cousin’s too, the Tokay and Golden gecko.

Well Flip, if you don’t want a crested gecko, get a gargoyle gecko, they bother have the genus name of Rhacodactylus and have nearly the exact care requirments. Or perhaps you could get a helmeted gecko. You could get a day gecko, but they have delicate skin and cannot be handled alot. Or you could get a leag tail gecko. I would say go for the crestie or gargoyle, they may be a little on the expensive side, but they are very active lizards, they will jump from branch to branch, and if you get a pair,(must be same sex, preferable two females because males may fight,, unless you want babies), they will talk to each other! I would say get a crestie or a gargoyle, they are very easy to tame. A friend of mine has cresties and every time she walks into the room and removes the cover they come racing to her hand because they associate her with food, and relize she in not a predator. They also have a special meal replacement powder call the Crested Gecko Diet, or CGD. It completely eliminates the need for feeder insects, there is also a Gargoyle Gecko diet, or GGD.

Happy Hunting

Oh and i forgot to mention, they don’t mind being handled. With crested geckos if they drop their tale it will not grow back, however, when gargoyle geckos drop their tale they will regrow. They also come in lord knows how many colors and patterns, the better the color and pattern the more expensive, but you can still get some fantastic looking geckos for around 75 dollars
