Help needed to identify this Gecko!

Hi,
I purchased this gecko from a pet store saying it was a flying gecko, but under closer examination I’ve come to believe it is not. Can anyone tell me what species of gecko this is??gecko 1
Thanks
Seraphin

that is most definately a pudgy (ie, wellfed) Marble Gecko. You can tell by the pattern on them, specifically the pattern down their spine. I believe your gecko regrew his tail, but it could just be the lighting in the picture.

Marbles are spastic little nippers that are fun to watch at laterday/night. My marble, Axe, jumps around like mad, clings to things, scrambles up things, and hunts in the funniest ways possible.

Thanks for the response. Yeah her tail has regrown and she is very jumpy, LOL. Any extra info for me regarding care of a Marble Gecko? Lighting, food, etc.

Well, you should be able to find caresheets over the net for them. They’re a pretty common wild-caught lizard out there in petstores.

They live in the trees of a rainforest, so having a tank heigher than it is longer would make them happier. I’m sure your gecko’d do fine in a 10 gal tank, but a 20 gal would be better. Higher humidity (mist the tank 3+ times a day) - which I think was supposed to be at 75 to 80%. Have some type of plant or fake plant in there (because the gecko is probably going to lick the misted water on the leaves of it than drink in their waterbowl). As for heating, make sure it’s between 80 and 85 during the day and 75 to 80 during the night. Don’t handle the marble much (cept for tank cleaning) as it stresses them out considerably. Also be careful when putting your hand in the tank since mine has tried to jump out the open area or dash up my arm to get out.

Make sure, if you haven’t yet, to take your gecko to the vet. If the petstore didn’t even know what kind it was, then they probably didn’t make sure it was parasite free. I was burned greatly by the store I got my marble from because he had hookworm, pinworm, and coccidia. Months of tank cleaning and deworming.

What else. I use either papertowel or Bed a Beast for my Marble - both of which he likes to be on. For some reason Axe the marble gecko loves mealworms and Hates/ignores crickets - I recommend trying both. Just make sure the food is alive and squiggly.

This is why I don’t write caresheets, I’m never organized and I like to bring up my personal experiences and tips. For more info, go to google and type in ’Marble Gecko Caresheet’ or find the latin name for marble gecko and try that with ’caresheet’

Help needed to identify this Gecko!

Just an update!
I contacted the pet store we bought the Marble from and they said we could bring it back to exchange for the Flying Gecko (this is what we had originally purchased and was more expensive & they wouldn’t do a refund for the difference - store policy) anyway...
We travel the 2 &1/2 hours back to the city to do the exchange and when we get there the manager informs us that the Flying Gecko had passed away that morning.
So we carefully look over the other geckos in the store (spending well over an hour) and decide on a crested gecko. We had a named picked out for her before we left the store, Tonka.
She is a better addition to our family and our children can handle her as well (with supervision of course).
I am making an appointment with the vet close to where we live to get her checked out...just in case!

Thank you for all your help.

Seraphin

... poor marble gecko. If they knocked off the flying one (who knows how. If the gecko died then it was probably sick or mistreated. If it was sick it shoudl not have been out for sale). Then they’ll probably knock off the marble you gave back as well. .. Oh well.

Cresties are awesome either way. I’m glad you made your decision.

Well we are very happy with our crested gecko, Tonka. She is awesome. So much personality in such a little lizard. Yeah sounds strange but it’s true. Here’s a picture of her for your viewing pleasure, LOL.

There is no such thing as a blizzard gecko, are you talking about a blizzard leopard gecko?
