I think my gecko is sick...

So for the last three weeks or so, Yobie won’t eat anything. I wasn’t really worried about it until now because when I first got him he went on this not eating for two weeks thing and he really has never eaten a regular amount on a regular basis either. Plus, he was still pretty active even though he wasn’t eating...I’d still see him making the rounds around the tank. But now the last couple of days, and especially today I’ve noticed he’s really lethargic...I took him out and he just layed in my hand and didn’t even crawl around anywhere. He’s had this little sneeze that has been going on for probably about a couple weeks as well. Also when I took him out today I noticed his tail has shrunk to at least half of what it was. From weighing him on Wednesday then today he went from 33.3g to just 29.4g. I’m going to have to take him to a vet soon, but I just wanted to see what you guys could maybe tell me.

His tank set up is like this:
20gal tank
Bedding : Coco Fiber (just switched to this after Reptibark about a week ago)
Side heater
Heat Lamp (not used much...mainly to boost the temp in the morning or just to see better in the tank)
Water dish
Fake plants/flowers
Dry Hide
Moist Hide

I feed him only crickets because that’s the only thing he likes. Doesn’t care for worms of any sort. I dust the crickets in calcium w/o D3 every time I feed him and then once I week or once every 2 weeks, I dust them with D3 (but he usually doesn’t eat those...don’t know if he cares for the taste of the powder).

I just really am not knowing what could be wrong with the little guy. Oh yeah, today he pooped on me while I was holding him too which he has never ever done before. The poop seemed kind of runny, but no different then when my leo pooped on me the first day I got him.

Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated. I really would be heartbroken if I lost my Yobie!

oh wow..
I would say get a fecal done to check for worms/parasites.
that would be my first guess. Sometimes geckos with weak immune systems can get them from crickets, so if he does have worms it’s not a problem on your part. sometimes things just happen.

T-Rex’s leopard gecko dust has calcium and D3..maybe you try that because he’s probably not getting enough D3. It took mine a couple weeks to fully adjust to a powder change, but then he was eating back to normal.

I’ve only seen my gecko poop once..it was runny, i think it’s just hard when it dries. maybe? i’m not sure on that one..

That’s a really low weight in general though, mine was in the 60’s even when i thought he was skinny..I haven’t weighed him recently..Is he young?

Yeah...I just got him about a month or so ago. He was the smallest one there and I thought he was cute so I got him. He did start to fatten up but the most he’s ever weighed while I’ve had him is 33.2g...maybe he was sick when I got him? I’m just hoping I can nurse him back a little till I can find time to schedule a vet visit and trip in the next week or so.

i highly recommend reptic aid as a supplement food..it’s about 10 dollars for a large amount, you mix it with water and then push it through a syringe in his mouth..i used it on mine for a while.

So when I got home from work last night and checked on Yobie, he was gone, rest his soul. Thank you for the advice. I wish now that I coulda helped the poor guy....but he went from being alright to downhill in quite a hurry... I’m keeping an eye on my two leos very closely now in case it was something that they could catch from him. They both look very active and are eating good and everything though, so I’m hoping there won’t be an issue. Thanks again guys.

oh my goodness...i am so sorry.
they weren’t housed together were they?? as long as nothing was shared between them, i don’t think they could have caught anything but bleach yobie’s tank in case you ever use it for anything else.
and again..i’m sorry. i don’t know what i would do if i lost my baby :[
