A couple questions. =]
My gecko has non-chemically treated mulch as his flooring(or bedding or whatever you call it) and I have feed him crickets. He has not eaten any, which is not my concern because I got him yesterday, but I am concerned that the crickets will hide in the mulch and foliage and anywhere possible. I’m afraid he won’t be able to find them. Should I feed him mealworms? Or should I trust that he will find the eventually? Also, I don’t know how to figure out the gender of him/her. Any help here? Thank you! |

Mealworms can crawl and hide in the mulch much easier than a cricket can. And crickets are stupid, they don’t really get that they’re being hunted most of the time (or so it seems to me). He would be able to find them. But in a best case scenario, you should get Coco Fiber substrate. As for gender, look at the base of it’s tail. Two bumps would show his hemipenises, meaning male. Males also have prominent pores in the shape of a V as the base of their tail. Females would have neither. |
