 Molded dirt. V_V

I have my gecko in an aquarium, with a plastic top that has holes dripped into it. Every time I change out her dirt and try to keep it really humid in there the dirt gets really moldy, but if I take off the lid, it doesn’t stay humid. Any advice?

Hm. I’ve never had mold in my AFT tank. Try a humidifier to make the air humid instead of keeping the dirt wet to keep up humidity. That helped a bit with my baby cricket problem that was a result from dirt being too moist.
And I use a screen lid, but I don’t know if that has to do with it.

About how much are humifiers, and can I get them at Petco/Petsmart?

The screen lid that I have doesn’t keep humidity at ALL.
And the plastic lid keeps it good, but causes molding like I said.
Maybe I should just put her on her "carpet" again?

I got mine at target for 30 bucks. Vick’s vapor makes them for people with colds or babies because it makes it easier to breathe.
I doubt you could get them at a pet store, unless you get a specific reptile-in tank humidifier. I’ve never used one of those before, but I’m sure they’re good. They’re called foggers.

lol..my gecko was on carpet for a month after i got really frustrated with cricket eggs. You can put her on carpet and she’ll be fine, but carpet keeps much less humidity than dirt so that won’t really help you.

My screen lid doesn’t keep humidity, but my humidifier is right next to his tank so it’s better that it’s open because it just makes all of the air in that vicinity humid.

oh, something else.
some people keep peat moss as or with a substrate in their tanks and that holds a lot of humidity.
:)
