A few more questions...
Both of my girls are on the coconut fiber stuff, I don’t feed them in their tanks as a rule, too paranoid about crickets laying eggs in there. I did nuke the stuff before using it, but in Stimpy’s tank, I found two small plants growing. Anyone know what they could be? They are just a little green stem, with two little roundish leaves. Should I take them out, or will they be ok in there? I understand the quarantine aspect, and my girls are, but I was wondering, since they both came from the same store, Stimpy was there the longest, and the worker took Georga out from the tank that was next to hers, do I have to keep them separated as long? I will never house them together, Georga is smaller, but I still worry she’s pick on Georga, cause she’s just full of life that one. One last question..... The kids love having Georga crawl on them, they stay quiet and still, but how long is too long to keep her out? Our house is a fair amount cooler then their their tanks, so I normally only keep them out for a max of ten minutes.( The kids don’t get to Stimpy yet, she’s still shy and nervous.) Thank you |

i’ve dealt with baby crickets more times than i can count. most recently, sugar ants as well. ew. no idea. let them grow outside the tank if you’re curious, but i would take them out. i don’t quite understand what you’re asking about quarantining them. i would say an absolute max of 20 mins, and not because of temps. they’ll get stressed from being out any longer, but their body temp won’t drop for a while. they’re hardy geckos. plus, if they’re on your person, then they’re getting body heat to keep them from getting cold. |

Stimpy is in shed again ( so soon too :S ) so one more to go and the vet will look at her. I called this morning. When I bring her in I will also be bringing in their poops to be tested. Now if I could only get her to eat better, she’ll "hunt" or catch her own crickets only after I have hand fed her a few first. I took the plants out, and just garbaged them, what ever they were they came in the moss, and grew even after being nuked. I’m relieved that Georga isn’t getting too cold by being held a little, the kids love her so much, and she doesn’t seem to mind having new bodies to explore, and really seems to like being on my youngster’s head. It’s also a good thing to know about the urates, both are really white, and both poo regularly. |
