OK, sorry for the lecture, I am a father of 2 children so I know what’s up. I recommend a Leo. They’re just about as docile as AFTs, as in not biting or anything. It may take a little more time to get used to you handling it, but it shouldn’t be a big deal. The main reason I say Leo is because they require an arid environment so you need not pay much attention to the moisture/humidity levels in the tank. It’s just one less thing to worry about to make care easier. Just use slate or paper towels for substrate because for some reasons Leo’s ingest any loose substrate and risk impaction. A water bowl, a few hides, including a humid hide and some heat and you’re good to go. They also eat mealworms in addition to crickets, which is kinda cool. My AFT never took to mealies, most don’t. Check out all the Leo and AFT posts and care sheets and compare them to help yourself decide. You can’t really ask someone what you should get. You need to read up and do some homework to see what is right for you. |
