Rare gecko with broken jaw? I need help if anyone can be of assistance. My girlfriend works at a major retail pet store(yes, one of those bad ones) and her co-worker caught a white spotted gecko in their reptile room. They have not sold any of that species in over four years so they can’t put it back into the system. We decided to take it in until we can find a responsible person interested in adopting it. I noticed yesterday(10/09/06) that it still has not eaten any of the meal worms or crickets we’ve given it. I also noticed it cannot close it’s mouth. I picked it up and it opened it’s mouth in defensive manor. There is something definitely wrong with this poor guy’s jaw. It looks broken to us, which would explain the lack of appetite. Her co-worker that caught it said it was an easy capture and she couldn’t remember how it could of gotten it’s jaw broken. We just don’t know how to help it at this point. Any advice will help. Thanx.

Rare gecko with broken jaw? I have an adopted Leopard Gecko that had a broken jaw. It healed but at a slight angle. He eats wax worms, meal worms, crickets. I had my vet check him when he first came, she checked his jaw, gave him some pain medication and moved the jaw back in line. I then hand fed him wax works mostly until he was better.
The only problem now is I don’t know if he will be able to breed, I’ll try that in the spring. I still hand feed periodically, only because he enjoys the company.
