I recently acquired a snake that was being kept in a dark basement which was also cool and damp. He was whistling so I decided to take him home rather than leave him there. I just spent over 3000 dollars on one of my dogs so taking him to the vet right now is not an option but I didn’t want to leave him in the basement either. I’ve been a vet. tech for a few years so with a little help I should be able to nurse him back to health. I have inj. baytril but have never given a snake an injection before. Also I used to work in a pet shop where my boss would give tetracycline to our snakes when they got respiratory infections. Can someone tell me the dosage. I see a lot of people giving at home advice on how to treat mouth rot and scale rot ect. so I’m hoping to solve this the same way. I don’t wanna be bashed for "not having enough money to take care of my animal" I’m not rich but I’m still trying to help. And depleted all of my funds so that my dog would still be able to walk. I got a lot of flack on other boards people stating the obvious "he needs to see a vet" " he has a respiratory infection" Yes I know all that but I need to know how to treat it at home. he is about 3 feet in a thirty gallon with 2 hide spots on either side. he is on a 12/12 timer on aspen shavings and the temp is about 85 with the humidity at 65. Like I said I have inj. baytril if anyone knows the dosage and can coach me I can get his weight. Plus I’m sure I have other antibiotics laying around. Also I’m sure I can pick up some tetracycline if anyone has any knowledge in that department would be great. Any other help would be greatly appreciated both myself and haytes. thank you for taking the time to read this and respond. In the last six months I have spent well over 6000 for 2 of my dogs that had issues so It’s not that I’m cheap I’m broke.
