 Tumor!? help!

I posted the same thing on rodents forum.
When i woke up this morning, I went to go feed my rats. One of the rats jumped out of the cage. When i picked it up i noticed a large, walnut sized tumor on its leg! the rat seems fine, but i don’t know what to do besides taking it to a vet. I don’t have the money to get it removed! what can i do? will it kill the rat? i don’t want to have to put it down

 Tumor!? help!

In answer to your question, it will possibly kill your rat in time. What I have done in the past in this situation is just monitor the quality of life of your rat until it becomes obvious that your rat isn’t happy. This could be quite some time, or it could be next week. Monitor his weight, monitor his activity level, and hope for the best. Give him lots of love and attention and enjoy whatever time you have with him.

I had a rat named Cole who had a tumor about that size for about 6 months before it seemed to bother him at all, and at that point I brought him to the vet and had him put to sleep while I held him.

I know this is difficult, but just remember that it is a part of life. If you ever need to talk, just PM me.
