i have had them now for about 6 months, and though i have many shell of all shapes and sizes, they dont seem to want to move. I read somewhere that sometimes they will only change once a year, yet, the pet store told me they change regularly, here for a third opinion :) any thoughts? is this ok? all else seems to match up with what everyone says for substraight and stuff. The one hermie used to be really active, but now, well, now he just sleeps most of the time, and the ohter one, well, it was never active from the start, it has always been kind of a quiet, keep to yourself kinda thing thanks in advance :) tanya |

Hermies change shells whenever tehy feel like they want to. I have had crabs never change shells and i have a crabs that changes everyday more than twice a day!! it depends on your crab. question #2 the crab that "sleeps" all the time may be getting ready to molt. have you ever had a crab molt before? Molting is when your crab sheds its exoskelton to grow. its a stressful time for both the crab and yourself but dont worry... your crab knows what to do. leave him alone and make sure the tank is a little bit more humid than normal (this will help when it comes to the molt.) also provide an extra calcium source. This is all just in case he decides hes ready to molt. he may also bve just destressing. what are your tank conditions? |
