basically i work in a bad fish shop, my boss ordered hermit crabs and stuck them in a tank of water! not good, i cmae in two days later, about 20 were dead. out of 50. i them emptied the tanks, filled em with sand and soil n all the stuff they need. my boss wouldnt sell them as he knew nothin about them and so over a few weeks they all started dieing slowly. i could take no more so i stole them all. almost lost my job! i kept them in a nice tank: they were kept in a 3ft tank ( about 13 crabs) with around 6 inches of soil and sand mix. two large shallow water bowls, one marine salt mix and the other freash- both dechlorinated. fed them lots of different food they need. no metal in tank. no heating as they were in my reptile room- it was like 25c in the tank with cooler bits in shade. lots of climbing stuff. humidity was at 70% they all buried themselfs for about 2 weeks. some moulted guess. then over 6 months they started dieing. until im left with one. :( i did evrey thing right. o and bath time every week was mad with 13 crabs! lol . o and there was lots of shells for them to chose - due to the fact that most of them had already died so i kept their shells. no petshops in my area carry them! iv been trying every where- no rehominf survaces for hermits either. im not in america- im in england. |

yes... no, petcos, petsmarts? well, i’m sure that you can find some eventually. and i think that your crab will do fine on its own for a while while you look for some friends. but deffaintly make finding crab top on your to-do list. ~Lauren |
