You can also order hermit crabs shipped overnight from them. The Crabbage Patch hermits are extremely well-cared for and top quality. One of the owners, Tammy, has helped me numerous times by phone. She is knowledgeable and responsive. Check her web site for all kinds of helpful information, even research she’s conducted. I learned from Tammy that one of the most important things to provide hermits is the proper substrate, such as actual sand--and several inches deep--depending on the size of the hermits. **My hermits went CRAZY when I redid the tank with Tammy’s Florida sand I ordered!! ** (She mixes numerous things in the sand for optimal conditions.) And the cost with shipping was totally reasonable. FYI: The alternative substrate she recommends, if necessary, is CLEAN MASONRY SAND--used in the construction industry. This type of sand is beige/tan in color , fairly course in texture and tends to pack and hold moisture very well. These are critical qualities for the hermits to survive and thrive through moltings. |
