 Reasons hermit crabs are good pets (for parents)

Okay I want a new pet, im not THAT expeirienced with crustations, and my parents are skeptical, and I need good reasons to convince them about hermit crabs, any special tips would be good too(best type for a begginer, best kind of food, ect.)

all pets help kids become better at well life in general.

Hermit crabs are very unick need alot of love any care and spare time, the kind of thing a kid has. plus hermits have different personalitys, they are by far one of my favorite pets!!!

Thankyou for helping, and hopfully others will to, umm.. wat size tank should i use? or food, maybe some pics of yer setup, OH! And ive been dropping in on other subjects, (mostly probs, so i dont have them) and most prob seem to be with jumbo crabs, any speciaficality?

I like meduime crabs.... I use a 20 gallon for my 3 dudes, but 10 gallons should be the min.
They ll eat any house holds foods, i d stay away from dairy sweets and salty things, other then that they can eat anything, i dont like to use peletes tho

here are some really old pics of my hermits and stuff when they lived in a 10 gallon..
ill get new ones soon


ps. the tank there in now looks nothing like that ... it s way better:P

feed the hermit crabs fruit and meat and keep it in until the food gets moldy. hermit crabs are sacvengers and eat rotting food in the wild so it’s okay is the crabs eat rotting fruit or meat. very important-ALL HERMIT CRABS SHOULD HAVE AT LEAT ONE BUDDY OR MORE.they should have 2 water bowls-1 regular freshwater water bowl and 1 saltwater water bowl (get the salt from petsmart, NOT TABLE SALT). it should have substrate deeper that the longest part of the crab. good substrates are ecoearth(bedabeast) and sand, or even better, both. put in a cuttle bone and cholla wood and something to climb on. i put in a real sea sponge from the ocean and dead coral from the ocean,too.animal lover got the rest of the care.
