 Help, help, help...

I am not new to being a hermie mommy and my daughter saw them at the Fiesta a few weeks ago. Of course anybody could see they were all being subjected to horrible conditions so when my daughter asked for one I was quick to help "rescue" Matilda.

She’s a PP and I’ve heard that they can lose limbs after being in poor conditions. She lost a climbing leg two days ago on her right side and two were missing from the left. Her large purple pincher fell off last nite but the little dear is still alive.

I don’t know what if anything else I can do for her except attempt to make her comfortable. Does anybody have any suggestions??? I’m afraid if she loses anymore legs she won’t be able to burrow down to molt.

Anyone???

I’m sorry to say Matilda didn’t make it. I’m so sad... my daughter cried really hard. So we gave her a proper burial. She crawled out of her shell so we sterilized it and placed it back in the crabitat. I tried keeping her in our little iso tank so the bigger crabs wouldn’t try to attack her. Poor little thing finally gave up. :(

We have two left and am happy to report they are in great condition. Spotty loves to change shells and football seems to want to keep the home s/he came in even though it’s too small.
