 Heat Pads

Are the heat pads supposed to cover the whole tank or only half?

They are supposed to cover a 1/3rd of the tank.

 Heat Pads

i got a heat pad that said it was for a 20 gallon tank..it doesnt cover even one third of the tank and it said the preferred method was to mount it on the side..which i did..its doing absolutely nothing for giving my hermies heat..how warm are these things supposed to get?cause now i have to go and buy a heat lamp which i was loathe to do because as soon as you take the cover of the tank the heat drops dramatically and takes forever to rise agin..the sand is also cold to the touch..is that normal or no?

Hmm put it on the bottom of the tank and the sand should heat up good.

that would be a great idea but right there on the instructions it says that once the pad is in place you shouldnt remove it or it may damage the pad,has anyone removed their heat pad and relocated it before?

I have 3 times just plug it in and see if it works. But if you want to be safe I would just buy another and throw the other one away.

I have removed mine and re-stuck it a few times--its fine. They are very expensive to just toss but I stress to be very careful when removing it.
