My crab is missing an eye! 
Okay, I told you guys we went to Petco the other day and got some new crabs. Well, they were all in the same tank at the store so I didn’t think it would be too big a deal to keep them together. I did separate some because my tanks are smaller than the on at the store. ANYWAY, on of the crabs is missing an eyeball. Now I don’t know if he was like this when we got him or not. From a distance he looks like he has both eyes, but up close you can see that there’s only one. Could this be from two of them fighting?? Do they do that? He was with one other crab his size, but I moved that crab today. I would take a picture to show you guys, but I don’t want to disturb him. Has this happened to any of your crabs and is thereanything I should do for him?

Some crabs fall victim to bullying in pet stores. The eye will regenerate the next time it molts. If you see it being bullied you will probably want to intervene until they learn not to fight each other.

Two of them were face to face yesterday with their attenaes going crazy. Is that them fighting or were they just communicating? I did separate them because I wasn’t sure. I also wasn’t sure if they could regenerate an eyeball or not. That’s kinda cool!

Alesha I have 2 crabs with one eye..........one was adopted that way and has partially regenerated. One lost an eye during a molt and I will see later if it will regenerate.......now-- Feelers flying are a way they sniff and greet each other........they may even make themselves appear bigger to another crab to intimidate it.........that is all ok and nothing to worry about.
What you do worry about is a crab holding onto another crabs shell and rocking it or trying to pinch it....then you seperate and ISO the bully (time out) for awhile.......I had one crab he got timed out 3X’s in one night---he got the pic after that.

It seems kinda funny to put a crab in time out! But I guess, whatever works! I’ve been keeping a close eye on the crabs and I haven’t seen anything else that looks like fighting
