My Hog
I think im going to name him Ocelot. His favorite thing to do is make tunnels in the aspen. he will make tunnels and use them over and over. its kind of funny lol. he does get rather upset because everytime i need to take him out of his cage his aspen holes get all messed up and he has to make new ones lol. One question though. as you can see he is very small right now.... wait picture time, he is saying hello. ill post it another day. lol he is making new tunnels. sorry back on track. he is very small and im wondering how much bigger he will get. i cannot find any pictures of adult ones anywhere. anyone have a link? i hope he gets bigger than he is now lol. As of now he is barely smaller than the biggest part of my pinky and id guess 8 inches long give or take. i heard they only grow 1-2 feet laters : )

Males are about a foot and half, but thick. Females are two feet, often a little more, and very thick. My female is 14 months old, probably an inch under two feet, and at her last two feedings weighed (these are before eating/after eating weights) 200/222 grams and 214/237 grams. Her weight was still in the 50s at the beginning of summer, and while I also go three mice per feeding back then I was using the smallest fuzzies in the bag. Now she’s ready to start on hoppers as soon as she fnishes a few more large fuzzy meals. But still, she is nowhere even close to the girth of an adult. Forget about snakes. Picture sausages. |

He’s a Western Hognose. As you can see he’s nowhere near full grown yet. He’s very mellow and the only thing he rarely does is hiss at us (mostly when he’s in shed). When we feed him we have to guide him to his food or he will start chewing on the first thing he comes in contact with when he smells the pinky. They are interesting creatures. |
