Sweet Pig won’t eat yet
I have had pig for almost 2 months, but I can not get him to eat. I got him at a show and he hasn’t lost weight (26g) but he just won’t eat. The heat on the cool side is around 73 day and 62 nights. He is more active when I am holding him and in his 24x12x12 home he stays under his turtle shell or in his cork round. He seems healthy but this is my first snake of any kind. I am just so worried cause I have just fell hard for my pig. I thought I would try a split brain pink today. I do know of a vet that does see exotic animals but just don’t think he needs to go if he is not loosing weight. I would like to know how long these hogs can go without eating and is this thing normal. I love my western hog nose, and am so afraid I’m doing something wrong. I do use hemp bedding for him and have not seen any problems. Please Help!!!!

Sweet Pig won?t eat yet Move him to a warmer room. Or if that’s not possible, get him an infrared nightlight. I think it’s the 62 degree nights that are the problem. Even with a heat source at the other end, there’s just no need for that kind of drop. To be honest, there’s no need for any night time drop. Most care sheets seem to suggest it, so that was what I did at first too. Mine had some issues with cool nights. She’s done much better since I started treating her like a low-humidity tropical species. At the beginnig of the summer she was 51 grams. Her pre-meal weight last week was 327. The breeder I got her from doubts that given a choice they ever let their body temperature drop out of the 80s for long. Yes, I know they range very far north, but to be honest I have no idea HOW.
