 Desert horned lizards

i was going to arizona this summer, and i wanted to take some pics of them...where is a good area to find them, and do they run fast?

Your going to need to be in the nothern half of the state for DHLs. Probably western most is best, but in the desert valley floor. They can run fast, but only for short distances. They tend to either stay still or run a few feet in burst hoping their camouflage will confuse you. Look in good basking rock areas in the morning or evening. In the south west portion of the state near the Ca. border you can find a DHL subspecies cross with the Flat Tail HL.
