The few I have found that were mated where just walking out in the desert looking for a place to nest and they were wingless. I did get a couple to take indoors for a time, but they ended up dying. I didn’t have the right conditions. I think one might be able to establish a colony outdoors using those queens, forcing them to dig in where conditions are amenable. But you are right, you’d need ten established colonies to do much good in regard to feeding HLs. And it would probably take them a year or two to get up to speed. |
