Poo eating? I read an artical somewhere that said that baby igs need to eat healthy adult ig poo at least one time as babies to get special microbactiria for their stomachs which they are not born with. The microbactiria helps them to digest plant material more efficiantly. It’s sort of like a vaccine, because after having the healthy (parasite free) poo once they are able to produce their own microbactirias... My question is: is this true? And when is it too late to feed this healthy poo.. has anyone eles heard this before? Should I try and find healthy poo for my Charlee? (please say no ewwww.. acctually if it’s for the best.. I can handle it. )

Poo eating? Its true but thats something that would have hopefully happened a long time before your ig was sent to this country.

Poo eating? It’s a highly debated and mostly old-fashioned idea. Since eggs pass through the mother’s vent they become infused with bacteria which incubates right along with the embryos and hatchlings never exposed to feces from any other iguanas still do test positive for having that beneficial bacteria.

So...does that mean i shouldn’t have to innoculate?? Right?? Because i don’t think I can find healthy Iguana poo around here, until he is healthy, and that wouldn’t work to feed him his own poo.

Poo eating? I would not do this. Your ig will be find w/o eating another ig’s poop. Just get a fecal check and treat any parasites he already has.

Poo eating?
yeah.. I’ve got him on panucur .08 every other sat. for four weeks. and he’s on baytril, and silver sufiodioxioidean(eheheh spelling) cream for burns. I just am worried about him, but he’s deffinatly had major improvements just for the 3 days of meds he been on... I’ve had him for four days.. I have helped care for my husbands iguana before... but this one is actually MINE. :)

Poo eating? poor iggy! i hope he continues to make progress...good luck! as far as the poop eating goes, i definitely agree w/ eyespy, and i definitely would not try and innoculate your ig at this point. just monitor it’s health w/ regular vet check-ups, and that ought to be enough if the diet and heat/ light are done correctly.
