Hatchling igs are 9-12 inches right out of the shell, so a well-nourished 5 month old ig should be bigger than that but most suffer a lot of malnutrition and dehydration during shipping from Central America to the petshops. Ideally a 5 month old ig would be around 14-18 inches long but that seldom happens.

it also depends on the cage u supply for ur iggy because they only grow to their habbitat because i got a rescued iggy and she is about 10 years old and she is about 3 feet.

thats a myth, the environment had nothing to do with its size, they grow wheather they have room or not, size issues are cause by diet

Yes, what Loki said. Parasites, lack of UV exposure, and dehydration can also stunt growth. Cage size has nothing to do with it. My first rescued iguana, Amazon, had a paralyzed tail because he literally outgrew the cage the pet shop had him in. Vertebrae at the base of his tail became fused from compression fractures. It took months of physical therapy to get him back about 70% of his normal range of motion. |

oh the poor thing, im glad he regained some of his motion. you think people would realize they need a little more space if they can barly fit in the enclosure......
