It just takes time to build trust. Make sure he is healthy. What is your cage setup? What kind of lights, diet, etc.? Feed him treats, talk softly, spend short periods of time several times per day with him. You can put a shirt with your scent in his cage, then hold it or wear it while taking him out (his scent will mix with yours and it will seem less threatening). I haven’t dont this myself, but some people swear by it.

I had the same proublum!!! When ever I tryed to pick her up she would run around the cage and try to whip me! But what I did was every morning and night I would pick her up and talk to her, and somtimes I would sing to her! I started hand feeding so she would get more used to me and it worked like a charm now its easy to pick her up and when i try to put her back she holds on to me and she won’t let go haha but the last thing you should do is be scared of him YOUR ALOT BIGGER THEN HE IT! haha Good Luck

i did this once w/ a very snappy snake(took a while though)...put on some gloves(gardening/leather) & maybe long sleves(so hits & bites don’t affect you)...try & pick him up(that maybe the longest task)...then pet him & just hold him(& maybe talk to him) for a while(if he does bite, just let him do it for a while (if big iggy i’d advise armored gloves & maybe many long-shirts))...keep petting him...after a while take off one glove...keep doing what you were...then after another while take the other glove off...then pet him w/ your bare hands for a while so he gets used to your skin/sent(or whatever)...then after that just hold him more & more everyday...he’ll eventually figure out who’s boss...then later you can subside w/ the handling if you think he’s all fine w/ you

(but remember i did this w/ a 2ft snake...iggys are different...he may not be that easy to deal w/)

...also...try to keep your face at a good distance away from his...it may taunt him to be close

When I first got my male Iguana he did the same thing, it just took time I wore a pair of thick gloves and picked him up and calmed him when i held him and hand feed him. He will eventually get use to you. Now mine is the biggest baby and he likes his face rubbed and body scratched. I took a year and a half for mine to calm down to be like he is today.

Ive got a pretty good setup. plastic plants and logs for him to climb and sit on. food and water bowl. what should i use as treats though? Lately ive been able to catch him a bit easier so i think hes getting used to me. hes not very old though, probably around 5-6 months would be my guess. ill have to try putting a shirt in with him. Wish me luck!
