 Enclosures

Will you guys post some pics of your enclosures? I’m picking up my first baby green this weekend, and I have a little tank set up for him. I just want to see some of your big enclosures to see what I need to start working on. You can train an iguana to use a litter box right? I might just have my room as my iguana room, and build a big box that he can go in and climb around on and just bask. Thanks for any replies.

Yea you can litter train them but i dunno how though.. i just found the spot my iggy poops at alot and i but newspaper there. I wouldnt start him out in a room.. they can get lost and will be hard to catch.. so i would tame him in a cage then do it when hes bigger.. like me. Heres my cage i built mine.

Yea, that’s what I was thinking. I’ll keep him in the tank I have now and then I’ll move him to a bigger cage, and then eventually my room will be his home... man I’m so excited!!!

Do they need to have a lot of humidity, or would they be fine with a wooden frame and chicken wire sides?

My last one had chicken wire all the way around, but i found since humidity place’s a factor in having iguanas, i kept the wooden side’s on there to help keep the humidity up.

Keeping the humidity high is mandatory for the sake of the Iguana. They need the moisture. Alot of people use humidifiers as well to increase the humidity along with continual misting which can’t always be done so much unless you are there with him all day. I say that one from experience :)

You do not want to use chicken wire. That can cause injury. You need to use plastic coated wire.

Alright, so wood sides, except for door with plastic coated wire... and I know that I’d need to get a big UVB tube...anything else.

If you want to use wire all the way around...you can use clear shower curtain to wrap around to keep the humidity in as well. Depending on your funds, that might be easier.

I have been search for a old book case to use to make an enclosure. If you do that make sure you vent it and everything.

Actually... I have this old dresser that needs to go. I just measured it, it’s about 5’ tall, 3’ wide and about 20" deep. Would that size work until I upgrade him to my room?
