Not Green Iguanas but we got some new photos... From the first time I saw your picture of Azul I have wanted a Grand Cayman Blue hybrid. Are they an animal that is hard to find?

Not Green Iguanas but we got some new photos... Grand Cayman hybrids can be difficult to find most of the time. I did see a few available at the Daytona show but don’t remember who had them. If you ever decide to have one I’d suggest watching the online classifieds and herp auctions. I see one or two occasionally on the Kingsnake classifieds. Just a note, not all hybrids end up looking like the Grand Cayman Blue Iguana. The GC Blue DNA has been so diluted with nubila and caymanensis that the animal ends up looking more like either of these 2 species (MiMi is a good example of this). I have been told that Azul’s mother was a pure lewisi, hense he holds a lot of lewisi DNA and his appearance is more like that of a GC BLue.

Not Green Iguanas but we got some new photos... I agree! Your animals are just beautiful. It’s easy to see they are very well cared for. I’m hoping to get a young rhino in 6 mo to a year, but I’m having a hard time finding any breeders aside from David Blair (& his site hasn’t been updated in over a year). If you have any suggestions besides him and Kingsnake (which I’ve also been checking) please let me know. I’d love to get on a waiting list for a hatchling!Thank you, and great pics!

Not Green Iguanas but we got some new photos... There are several other breeders producing Rhino iguanas, many of them small timers with just a pair or two. Bob Ehrig produces some of the nicest Rhinos around. My Loofah is one of his babies. He always has an ad in the classifieds in Reptiles Magazine, under lizards, entitled Cyclura. John Aristei produces some in Long Island occasionally and Kevin Brown, KWE Reptiles, breeds them in CA. Also, Lynn Petersen, in Missouri. Lynn sometimes has some available at Reptibid.com. Ron St. Pierre (www.bluetegu.com) produces a few every year but you have to be quick because he sells out fast. There are a couple of others that you will see in the classifieds at certain times of year. My own girl, Bubbles, was carrying eggs in early August, determined by xray, but I think she is reabsorbing. She’s not getting any more girth on her and not showing any nesting behavior. Maybe next year. My hybrid pair have been breeding like crazy the last few days so I may have hybrid eggs in a little while. My animals never seem to breed in season!! LOL
