Selling my 3-4ft Iguana because I worry about his habitat.

The light I have on this 65 gallon tank melts the plastic in between the tank and i’m planning on cutting it off if some of you people agree. I don’t really know what to do :( Please post me some thoughts about you having an iguana in a fish tank with the plastic in the center and if you cut it off to prevent harmful fumes? I feel that is the best way for me to go just because it just melts that and it’s all messed up now.

If anyone knows where I could sell my iguana let me know. He’s a male and probably good for mating!

Definetly sell him to a rescue/adoption place so that they can relocate him to a good home. Don’t just give it to anyone! And do not give it to a pet store! Why are you getting rid of it? Because of the plastic melting? Just build your own!?!?

Because my mother has been caring for him for the past three years and I’ve learned that she is very cheap and just goes and buys him a fish tank like she had before to try to nurse him back to health but I decided to take him to the vet, they did their usual checkups and said he’s having way too much calcium, etc. And I didn’t get any help on the bill for it from her and I needed it so i’m just going to try and get him to somewhere better than here. Do you have any suggestions on to how to get information on places looking to buy iguanas?

Go to the GreenIguanaSociety. It’s a website.

also, do not sell your ig to anyone who plans on breeding. they shouldn’t be bred because there are already too many of them w/ out good homes.

I still don’t really understand why your getting rid of him.... you care enough to take him to a vet but you dont care enough to build him a cage and keep him? If you don’t have the time/money then try to find him a good home.

You don’t want the clear plastic inbetween the light and the tank anyways. The plastic filters out the uvb that the iguana needs. Why can’t you care for him or are you always out of town? My advice would be to pay a friend to look after him or a girlfriend if you are a guy. It’s hard enough for adoption agencies to place iguanas into reponsible homes so if you can, please continue caring for your investment.
