Ripped Toenail Hi, Igloo got to spend some time in his new outdoor enclosure this past week and managed to snag his toenail on something (I’m guessing the mesh used to enclose it) and tear it up pretty good. He still has a nail but it has obviously been injured, as it was bleeding and the bottom curved portion is gone. I guess I will keep him out for a bit and give it time to heal. A couple questions, 1. I’m guessing it will grow back because it wasn’t totally ripped out and 2. Is the reason it bled so much because he tore the quick? Other than the bleeding it didn’t nor does it appear to bother him now. He does love his new enclosure though, its 8’ long X 6’ high X 4’ wide. He gets really blue when hes put in it and the sun is shining. Thanks for the help.

Ripped Toenail My iguana had the same thing happen to him about a month ago. Yes the nail should grow back and yes the quick is what mostly likely made it bleed.

Ripped Toenail
get plenty of anti bac on it. about half a year ago iggy allmost lost his finger. he had snagged it and it got an abcess. the vet told me it would be safer to cut it off. I didnt let him do it. and after 3 months of pills, cream and constant nail trimming, I made the adcess go away. I got pretty lucky
