 Timers, who uses them?

i went to home depot today and bought a couple of basic timers, the Intermatic Lamp Timer ($5.00) they seem to be pretty straight forward, but i can’t figure them out. i set the green tripper for 9am and the red one for 9pm. i set the ’timer’ dial for about 8:30pm (the time it was when i was setting them up). well, 9pm rolled around and the lights didn’t turn off. there is an ’automatic’ overide dial as well, i had it in the ’off’ position, but i’m not quite sure exactly what it does.

can anyone with experience with timers chime in with some advice or input?

HOWDIE!!!

Yes i use mine all the time. I have the red one on 9pm to go off and 9pm to go on.

I had em set and it diddnt work 4 a while. so i realized there was a switch on the side i had to turn on. Now everything is working and i dont have to do it by hand anymore.

hard to say if i did or not. i had to leave for work at 9 this morning, so i didn’t wait until 9:05 to see if it would go on, so i just wound the clock portion of the timer past the 9 and they went on. i might adjust to to go from 8:30am-8:30pm instead.

does anyone know what the ’automatic override’ dial is for? does the ’yes’ mode mean it will not activate the lights? the instructions lack any details in the packaging.

i use a power strip that has 2 plugs for daytime stuf and 2 for night time and 4 that can go on all day.
