 HELP!!!

My sister’s red iguana,Knight, has been being caged with green anoles for quite some time now and has had no problems. But tonight all of a sudden I looked into her cage and she was chasing one of my female green anoles around and she ate it! Is this bad for her? I’ve never heard of a cannibal iguana but I know that young iguana’s tend to eat insects for nutrition.Could she be substituting insects with lizards?
Please help?

 HELP!!!

i have heard from other iggy owners that they can eat there own young, also they can live with other adults in peace and out of the blue attack and kill there partner...i would suggest you remove your other pets into there own enclosure.

 HELP!!!

Well that was a probability from day one that you iguana could attack the anole. I think that you had to do research about housing two different species in the same enclosure. Iguanas are very territorial are there is a risk of aggression even with other green iguana. The reason I’m thinking that you’re iguana all of the sudden attacked you anole is because suddenly he/she wanted some space and demonstrated that feeling by attaching the anole and eating it.

You should’ve known since the beginning that housing anoles with iguanas was a bad idea and maybe they got along but there is always that risk that you take when mixing species in a habitat.

One thing is that you could take your iguana to the vet and tell him/her what happened and he/she will do whatever that has do be done to check the health of your iguana.

Dany.

 HELP!!!

She hasn’t shown any signs that she’s sick so far but it’s only been about 6 hours, she actually seems a bit healthier.Apparently, my cousin says that the anole was head bobbing and she went after it.I wasn’t exactly there when it happened. It’s not my iguana I was just concerned since it’s my sisters.I don’t house any other animals with my iggy because I have already seen him show aggression towards anoles and snakes outside.
Thanks for the help though!
