New Cage I Wanna Build regardless of how small you little one is its gonna grow and fast so if you have the funds you may as well save yourself in the long run and build a full grown cage 6’5’5’ is a good size but bigger is always better =]

New Cage I Wanna Build
if you are getting a baby iggy (5-8) weeks old you would be better off putting iit in small tank for the beginning and make plans for building the larger one when it needs it. a full size cage would be to overwhelming for the little guy.

New Cage I Wanna Build if you can, i would go taller by about 2 feet, cause they can get up to 6’ long, from nose to tail, so he is going to need room to move... i am not sure where the link is, you may want to check through old posts, or get the book iguana’s for dummies. i know i did both when i rescued mine, and there is alot of really good info in both. also check out the green iguana society. they seem to have some good info too, and some of the other websites i checked, had some bad info, or maybe just more misleading.. yoshi, pocachu, and shifty larry have helped answer my questions, and when i went to the vet the other day, i was told i was on the right track and doing really well with my lil guy. they are deffinitely the ones you want to have answer your ?’s. good luck, and enjoy your research!!

New Cage I Wanna Build Here is my cage for my iggy. He is still young.. but he is about 9 inches long in total length. He lost his tail a while back but is growing back nicely. The cage is 6 ft tall by 3 wide by 3 feet deep. We will eventually build another one but he def doesnt even use this space we gave him. As long as you can get the right temps and humidity. I went with cage which turned out to be bad for the humidity..so I owuld go with plexi-glass allaround the enclosure and then at the bottom part about 3/4 down, make holes so he can get air and the humidity wont get out. Shiftylarry gave me the idea and we are working on it. I would also get a humidifier to keep humidity in the enclosure too. These pics are old but you can see the enclosure. Also, pine and cedar woods are toxic to the iggs so just get a good wood and seal it with polyurethane sealer (i think is the kind) We also painted ours green and then sealed it. Make sure all the paint you use is water based as well. Good luck! And make sure you have all the right info and equipment needed for the iggy! Oh, and one more thing..see in the pic how there is cage wire, well I would still put that and then plexi over it so one, he can climb up the enclosure and two, the plexi will like I said, keep the humidity in. Our enclosure is almost sealed now with the plexi. I will warn you plexi is expensive thats why its taken a while to cover it completely. Also for the top of the enclosure make sure you put plexi as well but the lights wont go through the plexi esp the UVB rays so just put the cage wire and then cut out the proper holes for the lights and uvb light in the plexi-glass. The uvb light needs to be a long one a tube, not a coil kind by the way..for future refference! :)
