 Update on speedy
we went to the vet in seattle, and he had gained 10 grams, so now he is up to 52 grams! woohoo! he actually ate a whole bowl of greens yesterday for the first time!! he is about midway through a shed, and seems to be growing a little. we had some outdoor time the other day. and he loved it. he only escaped once and i had to chase him through the flower bed. lol. had some trouble with the enclosure i was building, so temporarily upgraded to a 60 gallon tank until my thumb heals and i can finish the enclosure.. i really want to thank everyone for all your help. the vet said he looks good, and stands a really good chance of making a total recovery, and most of their patients dont do half the research or put the effort into care that i showed. the only thing he wanted to change about speedy’s care is to take him off the powdered calcium supplement and put him on a liquid one for 2 weeks, cause it has an appetite stimulant and it gets into the blood stream faster for him to absorb, and his calcium levels are still low due to the mbd.. my husband is home finally, so i will let him figure out the camera, and then i will go on a photo shoot....

So glad his doing better and that you found a good vet...They are hard to come by these days..........
My vet doesn’t know a lot about reptiles but I just tell him what I need and he gives it to me..and he also has a friend that is a reptile vet that he talks to if he needs any advice..
I’ve been going to my vet for over 20 years, we also went to high school together...so I know him very well...He’ll do anything for your animals.........

that’s cool. i watched the way this vet picked him up and handled him, and then listened to what he asked, and he sounded like you guys when you are trying to help someone with their set ups, and just seeing him pick up and hold speedy and then hearing what he said relaxed me alot, he is definitely better than the local exotic vet. i thought the first one was going to squish him the way she held him, and i didn’t like that she was so rough with him either, but the new one seems to know his stuff. pretty impressive.. i am even thinking of transferring my birds out there for their care. he also checked atilla for me, cause my oldest beardie is acting kinda strange and is so picky about her food.. that reminds me, i need to check the results of her fecal.. it might be a long drive, but i am very particular about my drs and my kids drs, so i wont be any less particular with my animals. i cant thank you guys enough for helping me out with speedy. i was so afraid he was going to die when i rescued him!!

this one came from the vet. i haven’t seen it at the pet stores. i know they sell bird formulas though, so it may be available online or somewhere else...
