Always Something Wrong With Him... I am new to this forum....My ig is about 4 1/2 feet long and is in a cage 6’*5’*3’I have never had any problems with until this past year....First he fell from the top of the cage and went nose first into the bottom of his cage and got an abscess which he popped and I cleaned it daily and it healed but there is a scar. Now he has an even bigger abcess on the bottom of his leg.....and now he has mouth rot that I have been cleaning with peroxide and treating with rid rot but it doesnt seem to be geting any better and neither does the abcess.....has anyone else had any of these problems and if so did you take him to the vet?I would like to take him to a vet but I called almost all in the surrounding area and they dont treat reptiles and besides i wouldnt trust bringing him just anywhere....does anyone know a good vet in Wi in the fond du lac area?????I feel horrible because you can tell he is uncompfortable...when i go into his cage he automatically closes his eyes and tenses up (like oh no ...not again....)i am open to any suggestions......

Always Something Wrong With Him... Have you looked everywhere? It’s possible there might not be a exotic vet in your area. They’re scarce. You should be able to find one somewhere around your area though, or just outside of it. Try looking more. There is even a part on this site that list vets. Check to see if your area or outlying area is close to it. Your bound to find one if you search for it. You should have found one before you got your iguana. You have never taken your iguana to a vet and he’s 4 1/2’???? That’s not good mate. You need to find one, get a fresh stool sample and get him thoroughly checked good! ~Ryo~

Always Something Wrong With Him... Check this website, you may find a vet close to you. www.herpvetconnection.com Abscesses usually require an oral or injected antibiotic. The mouth rot is probably a secondary infection...something is going on elsewhere in his body. Stop using the peroxide, it’s not a good choice. See if you can get some nolvasan and use that, diluted, in and around the mouth. Best of luck!
