 Thinking of getting one!!!

Hi, I post on the water dragon forum alot,( well not lately), but i was thinking of getting an iguana. i have a 50 gallon breeder tank. is that enough for a baby? if so, do they need alot of humidity, and also, how fast do they grow,( basically, how long will my tank last?)
thx

Your tank will not last too long, probably under 2 years and that is only if you get a very young one. They need height as well as width/depth. They do need humidity. Unless your living arrangements are stable, you can provide a very very large cage (6ft), and you can handle a possibly aggressive creature that will grow very large, I wouldn’t advise an iguana. A bearded dragon makes a much better pet. If you do get an iguana, please adopt.

Hey, sounds like your young... as alot of people who want iguanas are..... well basicly they get huge, can bite very hard and do severe damage with there teeth/claws, they get aggressive during breeding season(two/three months a year), females can get egg bound at this time and the makles get terribly agreessive, they need daily/weekly bathes, they need extra large cages(8x8x4, 6x6x2 or a small bedroom)... I highly reccomend you go to:

http://www.greenigsociety.org/careinfo.htm and read through everything to be sure its really what you want, and yes they need high humidty about the same as chinese water dragons, they eat only vegtables, fruits & greens this IS NOT carrots, bannanas, lettuce, apples & potates its green beans, snap peas, acorn & butter nut squash, parsnips, prickly pear, yucca root, orka, endive and much, much more... .they are alot of work belive me I own two 6/7 month olds... they take as much care as my dog does sometimes even more!
