Albino iguanas Have any of you ever heard of an albino iguana? Is it true that they become blind?why?BTW I was giving my baby igs a bath in the bath tub.they were in there about 30 minutes with about 3-4 in. deep of lukewarm water.Than allof a sudden one of them seemed to be fighting to stay up right in the water.Than to my horror, her body turned around and she was floating upside down on the water!I gave her a small push to see if shed react but she didnt and I picked her up and she seemed confused and It looked like if she were blind or scared in her eyes. When i put her in her tank, she seemed finel. What happened???

Albino iguanas
Albino Gators monitors and Iguanas all have one draw back they are albino! This is bad because the uv lighting can harm the Retnas and cause blindness, also it is very easy for them to become burnt(sunburn)buy the UV because they have no pigment in their skin to help reflect the uv rays. Now as far as the Iguana scare you got it is hard to say what happened but it seems like(from the info you provided)it may have lost it’s footing and paniced causing it to swallow some water and perhaps just give up. This is just a guess but it sounds good to me. lol Just keep a close eye on him/her for awhile to make sure there is no breathing complications that arise. Tony
