Standards of Conduct Have you ever noticed how we expect a higher standard of conduct out of iguanas, than let’s say, an alligator or even a frill? I mean, you expect an alligator to bite your hand off if given a chance. If a frill tags you, well, what do you expect, he’s a lizard. But the iguana, the iguana is supposed to be nice, loveable, adorable little pets. But they’re not and when iguanas attack we seem puzzled by it all. Fact is, iguanas think like an alligator or any other lizard, and will relax, but never trusting you 100%. Perhaps if we took the same approach, then we wouldn’t get angry because it “bit” one of us. It’s a lizard, don’t expect too much of him. He’s not the pet rock of 2000 and beyond.

Standards of Conduct
very good point...i’ve been bit & scratched...& i just ignore it(even if i do have scars now)...i know that the igs freaking out can happen...but i don’t let it scare me...& it can depend on an iggy’s personality too...like rei for instance...i have no problem w/ him...he likes me...but for some reason he has this death wish on my BF gustavo...he bites, tailwhips, flashes orange, & hisses at him...then he calms down a bit after he’s been held for a while...funny thing is that he never headbobs at him...maybe it’s a guy thing...who knows?

Standards of Conduct Nice post!! I can never understand people getting angry at their lizards when they are bitten either. It’s not the lizard’s fault, it’s just acting normally. Reptile bites are the fault of the human 99% of the time.
