 Ziggys new cage is nearing completion..pic..

Almost done, new more greenery and some terarium grass for the bottom.
His basking area is about 100 degrees, is that too hot ?? The greenery s/he will bask on dosen`t feel excessively hot. Oh yeah, gonna put in a swimming pool later !!


It measures 3x3- 3ft tall.
Ziggy seems to like it. He didn`t flip out when we first placed him in there. Never been on newspaper before, walked kinda funny for a minute.
Well, whatcha think ? Remember its my first enclosure

The enclosure looks great!! What is the surface temp of the basking area?
Your enclosure looks bigger than Sams!

Tone, is not very hot to the touch, Ziggys on it right now, its the big set of greenery coming from the back right to the left front. Ziggy ate a little today and his temp was about 79 on the floor of the cage this AM. He slept in a vertical position last night, is that normal ?? Got his first bask in real sunlight today, I know glass filters the UVB but he still saw the sun today !!!! (UVB light was and is on)

Wade,

When Sam was first put in his reptarium (enclosure we had before) I used to always freak that he slept vertically. After a while he got more comfortable and started sleeping somewhat normally.
I so wish that I could take Sam out and show him what the sunshine looks like but he is very hyperactive and does not chill when out. Maybe as he matures :)

Sounds like you are doing a great job with Ziggy.

hey, where did you and everyone else get the plants for the cages? for my smaller gecko cages, i just go to the pet store. but i was wondering if i could also do silk plants from a hobby lobby or something? think that would be ok?

hey, zigggy is very pretty! he’s got a good amount of blue on him and just looks like a happy iguana, hell, i would be too if i got to live in that cage... that is if i was an iguana, in human form i might have a different opinion. :)

That is definitley a good habitat. i like how the basking area is basically just a bunch of vines! Plenty of climbing space for a busy iguana.

How do you keep the humidity in. The cage I’m building has plastic mesh for a roof and on the doors and I’m afraid it may not hold enough moisture.

Humidity is provided by a humidifier and plenty of hand misting.
Most greenery came frm Hobby Lobby. Best thing, it was 1/2 price !!!
