New Ig I just got a new iguana today at the New York reptile show. Not sure if it’s a he or a she...to young to tell...it’s about 18in..maybe 4 months? He/She has a little bit of a temper but calms down pretty quickly after being held for a little while. My friend and I are going to be building a custom cage out of pvc piping and I was wondering what would be the best thing to cover it with?

New Ig Isn’t it bad to use screen or wire or anything like that b/c when the iguana gets bigger and climbs on it he can rip his claws out?

New Ig
From all that I’ve read it’s only bad if the holes in the screen are large enough for them to get their claws into (and stuck). Petscreen is rather fine--if I am thinking of the right stuff--and they can’t get a claw through it. Also, since it won’t tear, they won’t have the danger of creating a hole and getting caught in it. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
