Think i got it all
so heres the plans: a 2ft UVB tube light and fixture (can i get a fixture from the hardware store? if so, what kind) gonna get 2 good quality thermometers instead if the cheapy 4$ ones actual branches in her cage vines and such to give it a more natural look and feel i think her basking spot is good for now, she seems to like it she has a large litter box for water, so ima try and make that look more natural. any other tips? do i have to worry about her burning herself on the uvb light if i hang it from the top of her cage? the lamp doesnt seem to get hot, but i dont want to take chances. but keep the tips coming guys. anything special you have done for your iggys, or things you wanted to do. id rather spend my paychecks on my "kids" than on me anyways. lol. to tell the truth, i feel quilty spending money on me. haha thanks so much for being understanding and helpful. -kylie |

Ziggys UVB is inside his cage I just made a guard from hardware cloth around it to prevent any burns |

At least... I think they are... Hopefully your Walmart will have them. There are three different stores in the vicinity where I live, and some of them have different ones. The one closest to me has LED’s too long. I have to drive across town to another WM, but they do carry them. At a cheap price too! |

went to a "flower factory" today and got some plants. i was asking a couple if they thought the price on one of the pieces was right, and the guy took me to a price checker. along the way he asked me what i was doing and i told him about shela...what luck...the guy had raised and owned 3 fully grown iggys himself. so him and his wife helped me pick out a ton of stuff and everything was wonderfully priced! then picked up 4 6ft garlands at wally world, along with my lamp fixture, and a new 4 ft UVB bulb from the petstore. had to do 2 trips today cuz i had shela with me on the first one when i was checking lamps and fixtures. i see you guys write about how your iggys freak outside, but shela is always so calm when i take her out. i bought her a small bird harness when i first got her, so when the weather is nice and i dont have to work, we go for walks around my neighborhood. so she went to the petstore with me. i was talking to some people from a rescue group out here, and they have a lot of iggys for adoption. i was talking to them about mine, and was glad to hear she looks in great shape. they also said she looked like a blue diamond iggy. she has a bit of turquoise behind her legs, and a blue tint on her head. any clue? anyways, went looking for branches today...and didnt see anything i wanted to cut...so ill look at my friends houses...but i did get some nice little branches for my tokay gecko. i was talking to my buddy matt today in school, and he said i could go to a feed and supply store and get really good therometers for a good price...so ill check it out on payday next week. but the cage will slowly be set up over the weekend. between work and sleep. haha. and one quick, very important question. the fixture i got today holds 2 bulbs...would it be safe just putting one bulb in? or do i need to pick up another bulb as well? thanks guys! |
