Taming Iguana? We havent handled our iguana Diamond very much because we were letting her settle (we have now had her for about a week or so). But we are starting/trying to handle her but every time we go to reach for her she whips her tail like crazy and runs all over the place. I dont want to stress her out. How can I get her to be more tame so I can pick her up? Once we pick her up she isnt as bad. any advice?

Taming Iguana? One week is nothing. They really do need a few weeks to adjust. Anthony (my son) did not try to pick up Sam until around the 4 week period. Sam was about 6 inches snout to tail and this little bugger would walk flailing his tail without us even near him :)
Our Sam though is not a lizard that likes to be held so we do not hold :) he is a sweetheart though and he gets hands on attention constantly..especially from me. I am such a pest!
{And Annie..don’t you ever sleep woman? hehe}
Good luck with your new little Iguana.
Have a wonderful day all
It is miserable here!
Hugs,
Tone~

Taming Iguana? I had the hardest time taming my iggy, it took a good 3-4 months. For the first 3 weeks I let him be, because he would whip me, he never bit though (except for the first time I hand fed him but I’m sure it was a mistake, hehe) What I did for a long time is I would just put my hand in the cage and be really still and just talk to him in a really calm voice or sing, lol for like 2-3 hours a day. Then when he was ok with that I would just pet him. Finally, I picked him up and put his food dish on my lap and let him eat, when he gets full he takes a nap on me, and we still do this every day, lol. Now the only time he throws fits is when he has to go potty and I rush him to the bathroom (he has a big rubbermaid thing I put in the tub with warm water). But it all depends on the iggy on how long it takes just don’t get too frustrated or give up :)
Good luck!!!
