Injury’s to iguana handlers I am sure their are some interesting pictures and story’s about aggressive or not so friendly iguana’s out their.Surely people should know and realize how dangerous our pets can turn out if they do not get treated right;and sometimes when you treat them correctly they just still turn out to be DRAGON that can be extremely dangerous. I have what that mouth can do to your hand and fingers.Always realize that you must treat your pet wit the utmost respect.Common post some pics

Injury’s to iguana handlers I have no pics, since the last iguana I owned before my newest was years ago, but I can say for certain that juvenile iguana bites can and will leave a wound on your hand.
And the tail whips...whelp city on your arms.

Injury’s to iguana handlers
WE GOT OUR IG IN MARCH, HE WAS A MONSTER IN AN IG BODY. WE HAVE NO PICTURES BUT IN JUST SECONDS HE TORE UP MY HUSBAND AND SON’S HAND. BIT THROUGH THE FINGER NAIL, TOOK MONTHS TO HEAL. HE HAD BEEN SOLD FROM OWNER TO OWNER. WE HAD DECIDED THAT IF HE DIDN’T COME AROUND WE’D HAVE HIM PUT DOWN, HE WAS THAT MEAN. WE READ ON QUIT A FEW WEB SITES TO SHOW THE IG THAT YOU ARE THE DOMINATE ONE. MY HUSBAND WORKED WITH HIM, WHEN HE ATTACHED OR SHOW AGGRESSION, MY HUSBAND HELD HIM DOWN TO THE FLOOR UNTIL HE RELAXED HIS BODY. WITH IN A MONTH, WE BOTH COULD EASILY HANDLE HIM WITH GLOVES (AVOIDING CLAWS SCRATCHES) WITH IN TWO MONTHS WE COULD LET HIM ROAM FREE, HANDLE HIM WITHOUT GLOVES. HE NOW WILL CLIMB ON THE COUCH AND SIT NEXT TO US TO BE PETTED. WE ARE ALWAYS CAUTIOUS OF HIS BODY LANGUAGE, IF YOU KEEP AN EYE OUT YOU CAN LEARN THEIR MOODS, THEY’LL LET YOU KNOW WHEN ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Injury’s to iguana handlers ^^^ proof that all igs can be tamed. just some are different than others and you need to adapt to their specific individual needs.
no need to yell :)

Injury’s to iguana handlers never been bitten or tail whipped here...used to get the scratches till i saw my mother doing her nails one night...and got an idea. i went out and picked up a battery operated nail filler. i just use it to file her nails so their not sharp. its quiet and she doesnt seem to mind. she actually closes her eyes and relaxes when i do it. i just put her on the screen in her cage (on the door), close the door, and work through the netting. keeps her in a fimilar place while i do something un-fimilar to her. i used to clip my birds nails as well, but i just picked up some spare file heads, and use the filer on them as well. keeps everyone happy. shela gets her "manicures" about once a month if that. i had to do something cuz i work retail (cashier) and i had a bunch of people asking me what i did to myself...and when i told them i had an iguana...they just looked at me like "ya...suuuure." and i was tired of the ace bandages on my arms. but since i get shela out all the time, i keep them filed.
and your right about the body language...i know about the head bobbing, and the dewlap. but ive also noticed when she feels threatened, she kinda stands up taller and tightens her body. i just back off and let her be. but shes never done this when ive held her. its normalls when she sees a cat walking around the living room when i have her out. lol. but she doesnt seem all that agressive...when the cats get to close (for her taste lol) she runs instead of whipping. shes a good girl.

Injury’s to iguana handlers Snoopy has only "seriously" whipped me once. It was the first time I took him outside he was really nervous. And when he whipped me he meant business. I was not mad I was actually glad it happened. It made me realize the strength and iguana has in its tale and a respect for the animal. However, experiencing it once is enough for me as it did leave a nasty welt. P.S snoopy is in early adulthood.
Other then that snoopy sometimes just gives me these little half a$$ attempts at whipping me. Like he doesn’t now if he should or not lol. I’m still in the process of taming him.
