 I am so happy!

the last couple days donatello has been closing his eyes when i rub his spikes and his head. i was afraid he’d gotten soap in them during our shower. today he closed his eyes and leaned into it! he likes it! he may be becoming affectionate!

Not always the case but usually if your petting your iguana and it has one eye closed it is avoiding you. If it has both eyes closed it is enjoying it.

it’s both--that’s why i’m so happy. he does that close one eye thing when i offer him a food he doesn’t recognize.

Snoopy does that when hes not hungry. Kinda funny how they deal with it just close an eye. Next time someone starts naggin at me and wants me to do something I’ll just close the eye that is closest to them

You now see how easy it is to fall so much in love with them.Thing is that they all have their own little personalities. I am always putting my hands on Sam whether just to pet him, pick him (hehe) or just wash him and most of the time he loves it or accepts me but I will also never have an Iguana that I can pick up or hold. Yesterday I picked him up to put him somewhere else (He is in Major Iguana Prison break mode haha) and he did a triple crock roll..hehe but good for you honey. You will get to know Donatello’s moods for the most part.

’tello has his days when he doesn’t want to be held, but i make him, anyway (i make it worth his while w/a treat). you’re right, tone. who would have thought a lizard had that much personality? the day he purposely crawled up my desk chair to sit on my shoulder i knew i’d won him over. i’ve never had a reptile pet before, and now i want another one. and (if you know), is it a space thing with iguanas not being willing to live together? there’s this park in south america (i saw it on t.v.) that has a whole bunch of them living in it, but it’s like a tiny park.

thomas, what if the bothersome human takes it as winking and becomes REALLY bothersome?
