Your iggy is too hot I believe Iguana open their mouths and pant when too hot. Do you have a thermometer in the basking area?

Hi Deadly, Welcome to the forum......

Well from what it sounds like your iggy could be getting over heated or he could have a RI (Respiratory Infection )

I need a little bit more info to be sure on what it is....

What is the size of your enclosure?

What is your temp levels? all around temp? Basking area? Cool side?

What is your humidity levels?

What is his diet?

Sorry for all the questions....

Is this still happening? If the temps are where you say they are,. 100 on the hot side and 70 on the cool side--then maybe the heating bulb is too close to him? What kind of cage is he in? if it doesn’t have anywhere for heat to escape he could overheat. hopefully his cage has holes, vents, or is made out of something that does. Let us know!

From your single pic, it looks fine. I’m not sure what the cage is for though, if it’s not needed then it could be removed to add room.

About the temp, youneed to experiment with different lightbulbs and various ranges. i’m using a 100W flood light bulb at the moment, and it makes his basking area range from 100-95 degrees.

I started out using a 150W, but it was waaaay too hot. Like around 120. My 75W (or is it 65W? I forget) gets the area in the 80’s.

At night I am using a red light to keep the spot at around 80-85, but unfotunately the red light bothers my lizard and he hides in his log. I need a ceramic bulb.

His lights are around 2 feet from his basking spot.

the cage is to protect him from getting burns from the ceramic bulb as i thought it was a bit to close to his log which i cant move as previous owner nailed the log to the sides

Broccoli should be given only occasionally. Staple greens that can be given daily are turnip greens when mixed with others, watercress, chicory greens when mixed with others, collard greens, dandelion greens, endive when mixed with others and mustard greens. Staple veges are parsnip, snap pea, green beans, kabocha squash, and yucca root. Occasional additions and treats are green peppers, spinach, strawberries, sweet potato, swiss chard, tomatoes, watermelon, whole wheat bread, yellow squash, peaches, pears, pumpkin, raspberries, rice, rutabaga, spaghetti squash, cabbage, cantalope, cauliflower, celery, coriander, cucumber, dahlia, grapes, hibicus, honeydew, kale, kiwi, lentils, mango, mushrooms, nasturiums, okra, papaya, parsley and zucchini.
