Help im adopting a couple of iguanas can anyone answer this question? i am adopting 2 iguanas that are 2 years old and are only 1 1/2 feet long, which sounds a little small. i also found out they have them in a cage that is only 3 by 3. if i put them in a larger cage will they catch up and grow normally or are they stunted for life? thank you for your response.

Help im adopting a couple of iguanas Iguanas dont grow to the size of there tank like fish. But it is healthier for them to have room to move and proper husbandry/care. Some iguanas grow slow but usualy not that slow. Are you sure of there age? I have sold yearlings bigger than that. Maybe the person you are getting them from is just guessing. With some tlc and the proper diet they should grow just fine. Good luck and congrats on adopting, there are alot of homeless igs out there that need help. I usualy suggest that you start with babies but if you are up to it then adopting is a great alternative. With two igs it is important to make sure you dont have two males as they will eventually fught if kept together. Also a male will brutally assault a female during mating season. So if you are not ready to see that I suggest you get ready for two cages. I hope this helps.

Help im adopting a couple of iguanas Although their growth is not contained by the size of the enclosure, poor nutrition, poor/inadequate food and a lack of proper lighting will stunt their growth. So if the age is correct, then it appears as if you are adopting a sick pair of iguanas. If that’s the case, it’s possible that they will suffer long term problems as a result. I’d have a competent vet check them out first before you get some sick iguanas.
